With March right around the corner and that the Polar Vortex we call last weekend has passed, it’s hard for me not to reminisce back on Spring Break 2012.
The weeks leading up to the trip were almost as fun than spring break. I went to the gym and tanning all before 9am everyday and my body was at its all time peak (RIP size 4 booty shorts). Senior year was dwindling and basically college was the ultimate shit show. I went shopping almost on a daily basis top perfect my spring break wardrobe and survived on a vodka and soda water diet with the occasional cracker.
I was newly single and ready to YOLO the shit out of this vaca. My two college roommates and I along with one of their friends from home all headed to NYC to board on our Norwegian Cruise that was taking us to the BAHAMAS! There was also a pit stop in Florida on one day but I didn’t leave the boat so I don’t even count that.
I immediately had a pina colada in hand the moment I boarded the ship and from that moment on there wasn’t a period of more than 5 minutes that I wasn’t sipping on something. We did manage to sneak some booze on the ship (mouthwash containers, sunscreen bottles, etc) which was great too. The cruise was NOT all inclusive but after all was said and done I only spent $270 on alcohol the whole week on the ship and I was buzzed the whole time. It was fantastic.
My birthday was mid vacation and let me just tell you that it was the funnest day of my life. We were docked in the Nassau that day and after a few hours of sipping on some booze and shopping we hit up Senor Frogs for a wild day of chugging way too many yards (if you dont know what that is look it up..I bet you $50 that you will immediatly book a trip to the Bahamas or another Senor Frog location once you see this place) and getting called up on stage and making out with some kid who “had the same birthday as me”. After my third yard we went back to the ship to nap before night activities. After dinner and cake, the ship hit some bad weather and between that and my hangover/drunkenness I hit the hay early. Lol.

There I am....#memories.
The other nights were combinations of buying corona buckets and hanging in the hot tub and dancing the night away shooting Surfers On Acids and the boat’s club. We also docked at the Norwegian private island where there were hammocks and people drinking out of coconuts and boogie boards everywhere. It was like a dream.
I won $20 at the casino which was fun because I had never gambled like that before. Obvi spent it on a drankkk.
Coming back was hard because we were in such warm weather and the closer and closer we got to NYC we could feel the temperature drop. GOOD NEWS was the Thursday we all returned to school temperatures in Beverly, MA were in the 90s and most professors cancelled class so we could go to the beach. Yes, my college had three private beaches. MISS YOU ENDICOTT!
Overall spring break is the best. It was what I needed after a hard breakup and pretty much one of the only excuses there is to drink 7 days straight, besides Senior Week that is, but I’ll save that story for another Thursday.
P.S. Craving a pina colada rn.
