So last night I turned to my trusty DVR and watched this week's episode of The Bachelor (week 3). Boy oh boy do I love this show. I feel as though the girls this season almost have a motive to fit certain stereotypes and look forward to creating issues. It's great TV so trust me I am not complaining. Let's get to it.... The first one on one date goes to my girl Lauren B. After this date I am putting my official bet down that this chick takes it all. Ben is so into her. It makes me laugh though because all people say on these first few weeks of one on one days is "this is amazing" and "I'm so happy to be here with you". After the plane ride and the hot tub in the middle of nowhere session, Ben and Lauren go to dinner and actually have some pretty in depth discussions. Ben even says to the producers that he is so into her but doesn't want to get ahead of himself. Great date in the Bachelor world and Lauren B (maybe just call her Lauren now?) gets a ROSE. The group date was straight up laughable. Ben takes them to play a healthy game of soccer and SURPRISE!!! the winning team gets the rest of the night with Ben. The twins are actually super good and it reminds me of a MaryKate and Ashley movie. It's the stripes vs. the stars and in a dramatic turnout, the game is tied at the end and it goes into over time. Rachel (I think that's her name?) hurts her ankle but REFUSES to sit this one out. Big mistake Raych, you cost your team the game despite Lace not know that the goalie (aka her) could pick up the ball with her hands. Isn't America great? The stripes team heads to the Intercontinental Hotel with Ben and Olivia per ush pulls Ben off to the side before anyone can even take a breath. This betch is my least favorite person on the planet never mind the show. Ben eventually gets back to the ladies and takes some time with Amber. They make out and she shares some of her fears/reasons why she came back on the show and BAM she gets the group date rose....Olivia is pissed, but is confident that she didn't get the rose because Ben can't give her the group rose EVERY time and that he gave her a reassuring sign when he got up of the couch and "pushed off of her leg". If that's a sign for a guy wants to marry you I think I would be married by now. Just sayin. The next one on one date goes to JUBILEE! She is super duper shocked she was chosen because she feels that she does not fit Ben's "type". Well Jubs, it's on.
He gets to the Bachelor Mansion to pick her up and she bitches that he is 20 mins late and then when she sees the helicopter he is taking her on she "jokingly" says to the other girls "who wants to go on this date, I don't". OH NO. The girls are pissed. Jubs, don't you know that some of these girls would kill, literally kill to be on that helicopter RN? Anyways they go on this date and she makes a "white boy" joke (she is black) and Ben is awkward AF. She rebuttles with saying that that was the first time she has really seen Ben laugh and that he usually just laughs because he FEELS like she should laugh....what? Well it works on our boy Ben. After dinner and her opening up to him that she is the only surviving member of her family before she was adopted SHE GETS THE ROSE. What started off as the most uncomfortable date ever (she spit out food she tried that she hated) turned out to be okay. Ben seemed into her and sensitive to the whole "I don't have a lot of friends that are girls because no one understands me" stick. ROSE CEREMONY: Ben gets a call that two people close to his family back home died in a plane crash and he shares that he is having a tough day. Olivia OBVIOUSLY wisps him off to the side before he can even finish talking and decides that the best way to comfort him is to start crying over her cankles and how there are blogs dedicated to them (she is a news anchor). Ben is unimpressed. Jubilee takes Ben off to the side to give him a massage to help him distress and calm down (super sweet actually) and all of the other girls (aka Amber, the twins, Becca, and JoJo) ARE PISSED because she already has a rose. They confront Jubilee and Amber gets in her face. Jubilee runs off and cries and Ben (swoon) comes to her rescue. Amber goes up to try to look like the nice girl (when she is not so shut up Amber). Ben stands up for Jubilee big time (probably because he wants more massages) and tells Amber to back off. Lace goes home to work on herself. Good for you Lace, you were an absolute train wreck and I enjoyed watching you but I hope you figure it out. Olivia gets the last rose and is convinced that Ben did it just to make things look less suspicious at how obvious it is that she is going to win. She then says that he squeezed her extra hard so she is very very confident in their relationship. Jami and Shusanna go home. Next week the Bachelor gang heads to Las Vegas (aka where the twins are from and their profession is "Twin" aka strippers??). Can't wait. Favorites: Lauren B. Amanda Caila Least Favorites: Olivia Amber Rachel Predictions for next week: Olivia and Rachel go home, Becca goes on a one on one date, and Lauren B. and Amanda will still be my favs. I don't know about anyone else but I have been in dire need of some motivation this week. It's been friggin cold and gloomy and apparently we are going to be hit with a butt load of snow this weekend #WinterBlues.
In case you are currently riding the struggle bus to get your a-s-s to the gym like me, here are a few motivational reasons why you should chug that pre-workout and go be productive. I love the Bachelor. Sorry not sorry. I know the concept of throwing like 30 single/catty/beautiful women in a house that are dating the same guy is ludicrous but I am so on board/ love watching it. I am finally caught up this season (I binge watched the two episodes yesterday on my sick day) and it is so unbelievably good.
I love me a good old fashioned TV show recap and want to play along so next week I will be putting my thoughts on paper so to speak and recapping episode 3 and on of The Bachelor. For now I am going to give you a quick recap SO FAR on the remaining girls that I am fans of/entertained by that haven't been pricked by the rose thorn (lololololol) and eliminated yet. 1. Amanda: this chick is a mother of two little girls (kinsley and charlie #StealingThoseNames) and doesn't have a god damn wrinkle. She is an esthetician which is cool and she has the kind of personality I wish I could have. Sweet, quiet, and super lovable. If she doesn't win she right now has my vote to be the Bachelorette. 2. Olivia: I hate this chick. If you are a fan of the show then you have probably seen a million and one memes of her with her huge ass mouth making these ridiculous faces. I understand that the show cuts the takes in a way to make them more interesting and dramatic but I think this chick is ACTUALLY that into herself. I did think she was pretty but her hair is super flat and she is kind of a bitch so see ya later Olivia. I hope you get eliminated asap. 3. The Twins: I think their names are Hailee and Emily but it's very hard for me to take these two seriously. Yes, they are beautiful but wtf are they thinking? What is one of you wins? How awkward is Thanksgiving dinners going to be? Like oh hey Ben pass the potatoes and thanks for breaking up with me for my sister. They also have "Twin" as their occupation. These 22 year old blondies need to ride their two person bike (seriously they have one) somewhere else. 4. Lace: Lace reminds me of a freshman year drunken version of myself. Going on and on about how a guy wouldn't make eye contact and how weird looking I was at a young age and that I am a beautiful butterfly now. STOP. The fact that she has made it past two eliminations is amazing. The girl has a lot to work on personally and clearly has low self esteem. I give it one more week before she is gonzo. 5. Lauren B.: She's a flight attendant which tells me she DGAF and I like it. Super pretty and sweet. I have a feeling she takes it all. Ben seems pretty smitten with her. 6. JoJo: SUPER pretty. I immediately followed her on instagram because I felt like I would be inspired by every outfit choice she's ever made. She's one of my favorites. 7. Caila: This bubbly adorable girl is from Boston! I think she's really sweet and funny. Also wouldn't hate it if she was the next Bachelorette. 8. Becca: She was like 1st runner up with Chris's season and kind of said TTYL and left. I believe she is a virgin which is pretty cool especially because she is a smoke and could land any guy. Ben seems into her and I don't blame him. She was out shooting him in basketball. She seems like a guy's girl and I dig it. Tonight's power ball is worth $1.5 Billion. I cant even fathom that kind of doe. But I CAN imagine what I would do with infinite amount of money which that basically is. I have a few tickets, one being in a pool with my co-workers so it's safe to say that the work day is filled with plans, purchases, and vacations that we would make and take if we won. Here's a list of things I would do if I was the power ball winner of $1.5 Billion...
1. Take care of my student loans, both of my brother's student loans, and my boyfriend's student loans. SORRY Sallie Mae. 2. Build my dream house in this area. It's where my whole family is. 3. Buy my mom a house- on the beach - in Maine. 4. Buy my dad a new car. 5. Go on a cruise to Caribbean...with my whole family and all of my friends. 6. Buy a house on the Vineyard. 7. Get my best friend who is about to get married everything on her registry. 8. Help my brother start his dream restaurant: "Cherry On Bottom" 9. Pay off my parent's house. 10. Buy a dog :) Oh to dream..... Last night I cooked, and I actually did a good job. It's a miracle. I follow BuzzFeed Food videos and yesterday came across a video recipe to Stuffed Taco Peppers. For the first time I think ever I followed the directions verbatim and they came out pretty amazing if I do say so myself. (I guess directions are important?) I made 12, so basically I fed my mom, Spenser, and I for the next few days.
Check out the recipe. Don't get me wrong, it was very simple and easy but it gave me a little Martha Stewart confidence that I needed. I will only be answering to Chef Kels from now on. I suck at cooking. I can make tacos and the occasional shrimp scampi but those are literally two of the very few meals I can put together. The thing is I WANT to be a good cook but I was raised in a very Portuguese family and my grandmother/mom/aunts always did the cooking and trust me I was NEVER mad about it.
I really am trying to get a little bit more acquainted with the kitchen in 2016. Here is a list of recipes I think are doable for my lack of stove top knowledge... Salmon and Asparagus in Foil Homemade Breakfast Sandwiches Baked Chicken Parm Once I successfully (hopefully) make these I'll be sure to fully report. It has been no secret that I have been on a weight loss journey for quite some time now. Rome wasn't built in a day, amiright? My weight is constantly fluctuating between about 7 pounds and my goal is to lose my last 15 by the summer. It's not so much the number that I'm working for but the way I feel. I can tell when my body is where it's supposed to be and when it needs some work, and right now my body could use a little extra attention.
I got a fitbit for Christmas (thanks Dad!) and I can honestly say it has motivated me to get to moving. Working to get those 5 dots on the screen by the end of the day is a high priority for me. My girlfriend also told me that every hour on the hour her and her co-workers get up and do 10 squats, lunges (each leg), and calf raises. Office life is all about sitting is a spinney chair and munching on snacks so I am copying her hourly ritual just to stay a little active during the work day. I also reached out to Katie Boyd. For those of who don't know who Katie is, give her website a visit. She is the best personal trainer in the game. My best friend went to her when she won Miss Massachusetts to get in tip top shape for Miss America and let me tell you, my friend looked healthy, fit, and happy. I have my first Face Time session with Katie tonight (her studio is in New Hampshire but she offers Face Time sessions). I am so excited to talk goals and plans with her and get going to become the healthiest version of me. In addition to that I am attending Katie's "spirit day" on Saturday in New Hampshire. It's a four hour day with a bunch of her clients where we are focusing on yoga, meditation, and creating vision boards. I am so excited to meet the other girls and have a day. Setting goals is important to keep you on track. In addition to the 15 lbs. by summer, I'm hoping to work on my flexibility, calming my anxiety, and taking better care of myself. Here's to 2016! "Happy 2016 peeps. A new year is many people's opportunity to start a new and get your shit together. I had a 10 minute wait to get on the treadmill on Saturday because its "New Year, New Me" time. Resolutions are my favorite part of the new year. Most of the time (okay, pretty much all of the time) a majority of my resolutions roll over to the new year because they went undone. I am still waiting to lose that last 15 pounds and I am still trying to work on myself when it comes to my confidence and anxiety.
Since the new year, I have been reading article after article on people's new years resolutions to try to find some inspiration. Besides the weight loss goals and eating less red meat promises, here is a list of a few goals that I am adding to my to-do list in 2016: 1. "Don't Go Bankrupt": the Betches give the advice to not NOT have any money at the end of the year. According to them, as long as you are meeting your financial expectations then you are doing A OK as a young person. Saving money is hard, especially when you like fun and clothes as much as I do, but this year I need to buckle down and give my savings account a little TLC. 2. "To Make My Bed Every Morning After I Get Up": Rikki from Glitter Guide gave me a little inspiration to get my shit together. I still suffer from the college syndrome that when I am trying on outfits to go out, they never get hung back up. It's a terrible habit that I HATE that I do. I want my room to be a clean, calm place for me to be and that all starts with a freshly made bed. 3. "Watch Instructional YouTube videos": Holly from The Bolde instructs us to become more hands on. Whether I want to master the smokey eye with my Naked Palette or finally learn how to change a tire YouTube can teach you. I want to become more independent this year and YouTube is chalk full of how-to, step by step videos showing you how to do just that. 4. "Make More Social Dates with Friends": Women's Day instructs us to make more time for friends. I am fairly certain that this should be the easiest resolution of them all. A reason to party with your besties? Okay fineeeee.... And just a little Throwback: 2013/2014 New Year's Eve Kels. Such a ham... |
